Descripción: Under the general direction of the Dean, Valencia Campus, and in functional reporting with the Director of Library Services, Berklee, the Librarian is responsible for providing professional library services that include reference, cataloging, collection development, and bibliographic instruction.
Funciones: Provides reference services for students, faculty and staff; assisting in small informational searches as well as major research projects. Provides interlibrary loan and document delivery services for students and faculty to expand the effectiveness of the library collection. Performs cataloging and classification of monographs, scores and audio/visual material for the library, media center and designated satellite/departmental collections. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student employees and support staff, as appropriate, in basic library tasks such as checking in and out materials and shelf maintenance. Is solely responsible for the operation of the library in Valencia. Provides individual and class-based training for faculty and students on effective use of library system, online databases and periodical indexes. Participates in ongoing information literacy workshops and presentations. Is responsible for—with faculty, program director and dean, participation— the development and maintenance of collection materials within designated subject areas. Works directly with faculty, program directors and deans, in identifying and processing class reserve materials, and the development of class/subject reading and listening lists. Participates in the development of Learning Resources goals and objectives.
Requisitos: Masters in Library Science preferred. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks. Experience with both copy and original cataloging on an automated library system. Knowledge and understanding of computers, information databases, indexes and systems. Demonstrated experience in a supervisory capacity. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Experience with all types of academic research resources. Demonstrated knowledge of all operations in an academic library. Fluent English skills.
